PRESIDENT'S WELCOME

Welcome to the home page of AICR Estonia!

The AICR (Amicale Internationale des Sous-Directeurs et Chefs de Reception des Grands Hotels or in English the International Association for Front Office Managers and Assistant Hotel Managers) was founded in 1964 on the Côte d'Azur in France by the Front Office Managers of several famous grand hotels and over the past 42 years has developed into an international organization represented in 13 countries and continuing to grow. The members are either active or former Front Office Managers and Assistant Hotel Managers who love their profession and are eager to develop themselves and their hotels through friendship and networking with their colleagues around the world. The association now provides its members with a priceless community, offering among many the following benefits:

  • A friendly and professional support mechanism.
  • Exchange of views, information and experiences.
  • Warning of fraudsters and gamblers.
  • Forwarding of reservations, making it easier for guests to travel to an unknown hotel.
  • The Receptionist of the Year competition.
  • Recruitment and ways to attract more staff into the industry.
  • Job search.
The AICR has National Associations in all its member countries, governed and guided by the International Committee with the International President as the highest authority. Each section also has its own Committee and a President elected every two years. The section members meet locally around once in two months, and gather at the beginning of each year for the Annual General Assembly to draw conclusions, vote on topical decisions, and discuss the year to come. In January the Amicalists of each section come together for the top event of the year – the annual International Meeting. Besides daily exchange of information and news, the individual sections offer:
  • Series of meetings every year including lectures by national organizations, e.g. Tourist Boards, Hotels & Restaurants. Associations, etc.
  • Inspections to new hotels and restaurants.
  • The Receptionist of the Year competition.
  • Surveys of e.g. laundry prices, personnel & recruitment issues.
  • Product presentations.
  • Initiatives to attract more young people into the industry, such as visits to schools or visits of hotels by schools, and supporting them if they have chosen a career in Front Office.

Estonia became member of the association at the International Congress held in Berlin in 2003. The International Congress takes place every two years, and between those years there are the International Presidiums of a smaller scale. The Estonian section of the AICR has been active already since 2002 and in 2005 it was officially registered as a non-profit organization. Among other activities, the Estonian AICR has been organizing the annual Receptionist of the Year Competition since 2002 among the section’s member hotels. The winners of all the National sections stand up at the annual finals held at the Congress or Presidium to compete for the David Campbell Trophy. In January 2006 at the Presidium in London, the Estonian section was elected to be the host for the next International Congress. Today, we are proud and happy to welcome you to Tallinn on 17-21 January 2007 to enjoy Northern hospitality in a true Mediaeval atmosphere!

Please feel free to contact us if we have raised your interest in joining the AICR.

Wishing Amicalement,

Mr. Anton Jolkin
